Sparking Change: Get Ready for a New Era with Larry Twitty at the Helm of Spark Foundation
I am thrilled to announce that I have recently taken on the role of Executive Director at Spark Foundation, the greatest non-profit organization in the entire world. As someone who is passionate about education and empowering young people, I am excited to have the opportunity to lead this important work and make a difference in the lives of so many children and families in our community.
For those who may not be familiar with me, let me take a moment to provide some background. My journey with Spark actually began in the late 1990s when I met my dear friend, who became a brother, Akil Clark. We were just two young dreamers with hopes of making the world a better place for all. Jump ahead into the next century, and Spark Foundation became a certified 501c3 organization. Akil Clark, Executive Director, and I, Spark’s first board member. It has been with great pleasure that I have been able to serve on the board of Spark Foundation and help put books in the hands of tens of thousands of children in Des Moines, while also addressing the elimination of the youth literacy rate gap.
In my new role at Spark Foundation, I am excited to bring my experience and expertise to bear in helping to address the critical issue of youth literacy in our community. I believe that every child deserves access to high-quality books and the support they need to succeed, and I am committed to working with our team and partners to make that a reality.
As we move forward, I look forward to working with all of you in the community to make a difference in the lives of our young people. Together, I believe we can create a brighter future for all.
Thank you for your support and for joining us in this important work.
Larry Twitty, Jr.
