Spark took a major step forward with our goal of putting free books directly into the hands of students this Thursday as we held our first no-cost book fair. Thanks to the generosity of individual and corporate members of the community, each second grade student at Moulton Elementary was given a $25 voucher to purchase whatever book their heart desired, with two stipulations: Pay attention to your budget, and aim for four or more books.
The integration of budget-conscious spending requires students to use their math and decision-making skills. Once the math and hard decisions were out of the way, they had a blast showing each other the books they had selected.
