Spark Foundation is excited to announce our new partnership Storyhouse BookPub to help us keep sparking a love of reading in McKinley Elementary students.
Storyhouse BookPub will help the Spark Foundation by serving as a location to host special fundraising events, acting as a donation site, or provide monetary donations. Located right around the corner from McKinley Elementary school, our new partnership will increase the number of high quality books we are able to donate to the students of McKinley.
A locally owned bookstore in East Village, Des Moines, Storyhouse BookPub is a natural partner for Spark. Founded and operated by Abbey Paxton, Storyhouse BookPub offers a diverse collection of stories for readers of all ages. Abbey has over seven years of experience in the book industry and shares our love of reading.
“Storyhouse is excited to partner with the Spark Foundation because we know how much the love of reading has impacted our lives and hope to share that passion with others,” says Abbey. “We are inspired by the work Spark does in our community and schools and look forward to supporting their mission in igniting change through helping reduce the reading achievement gap.”
Our partnership with Storyhouse’s will help the Spark Foundation continue our mission of closing the achievement gap in Iowa by establishing a new way to donate books that will benefit our work at McKinley Elementary.
